We are pleased to announce that the search for Morristown Beard School’s next Head of School has been launched. This search is being led by Michael Morais P’22, ‘24, ‘26, Philicia Levinson P’19 and 11 others, consisting of alumni, parents, alumni parents, faculty, and staff. In early October, Mr. Morais and Mrs. Levinson, on behalf of the Search Committee, wrote to the MBS community to inform them that they had engaged Resource Group 175 (RG175), a well-respected search firm specializing in independent school leadership positions, to lead the search.

Consultants Debbie Reed and Tom Hudnut from RG175 visited campus in late October and met with members of the MBS faculty and staff, students, parents, and alumni to best understand the community. Shortly after their visit, the firm conducted a confidential survey, which was distributed via email to faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni parents, alumni, and trustees.

After their visit to campus, the position statement, written by RG175, was posted in early November on their website for potential candidates to view. Those who are interested in applying for the position should visit the RG175 website.

Fall 2025

  • Search Committee Members introduced.  
  • RG175 announced as search firm to assist with Head of School selection.
  • RG175 consultants, Debbie Reed and Tom Hudnut, held meetings and forums with School administrators, faculty, students, and current parents.
  • Head of School Search survey sent to MBS community

November 2025

November 2025 - January 2026

February 2026

  • RG175 received more than 80 applications from candidates across the country and abroad.
  • Over 40 candidates were selected for initial interviews.
  • 22 candidates advanced to the next round of the search.
  • The Search Committee identified a group of highly qualified finalists for extended, in-person interviews with the full committee.
  • Members of the MBS community provided valuable input through the Head of School Search Survey and ongoing feedback to the committee.
  • The above information was shared in a letter sent to Trustees, Faculty and Staff, current parents/guardians, and Upper School students.

March 2026

  • The new Head of School will be selected.
  • The Morristown Beard School Board of Trustees has unanimously elected Ryan Liese P’31 as our next Head of School. Please click here for more details.
