Alianza de Antiguos Alumnos Negros

The social injustices that we have been experiencing as both a community and a nation led to the formation of the MBS Black Alumni Alliance. The Alliance is made up of 64 Black alumni ranging in class years from 1998 – 2019. After watching videos and reading some of the stories that surfaced on social media in the summer of 2020, this group formed organically out of their love for MBS and a desire to be part of the solution in creating positive and lasting change. Working in partnership with the MBS Director of DEIB and the Director of Alumni Engagement, the goal of the MBS Black Alumni Alliance “is to create a community that addresses the needs and concerns of all MBS students and alumni who identify as members of the African diaspora.” We are committed to building relationships that foster collaboration and a sense of belonging for Black students and alumni.

La Alianza de Antiguos Alumnos Negros de MBS fue llamada a la acción, envió una carta de intenciones y se reunió con miembros del equipo directivo de MBS en julio de 2020. Los miembros del grupo no han perdido el tiempo en hacer realidad su visión de la diversidad, la equidad y la inclusión. Algunos se han ofrecido como voluntarios en el Grupo de Trabajo sobre Justicia Racial de MBS. Un par de los miembros presentaron sus biografías y fueron votados para formar parte de la Junta de Antiguos Alumnos. La Alianza de Antiguos Alumnos Negros se compromete a apoyar a MBS en el trabajo necesario para hacer de la Escuela un entorno seguro, enriquecedor y acogedor para todos los estudiantes, donde cada persona se sienta valorada, respetada y "poderosamente preparada para el aprendizaje y para la vida." La Alianza de Antiguos Alumnos Negros es un ejemplo de cómo los antiguos alumnos de MBS viven el lema de la Escuela "ad astra per aspera," ya que trabajan para ayudar a que nuestra comunidad avance "hacia las estrellas a través de la adversidad."
