Where Every Voice Matters: MBS Students Attend Middle School Leadership Summit

Middle School students from Morristown Beard School, accompanied by Head of Middle School Alonda Casselle P’27, ‘30, and Middle School faculty members Cynthia Bennett and Allyson McElduff, recently attended the Middle School Leadership Summit at Gill St. Bernard’s School. This was an inspiring event that brought together students from across the region to explore leadership, inclusivity, and community connection.

Centered around the theme “Where Every Voice Matters and Every Story Connects,” the Summit invited students to reflect on how they can be agents of positive change within their schools and beyond.

Throughout the day, participants joined workshops and discussions that emphasized inclusive leadership, the importance of dialogue and understanding, and the role of self-awareness and cultural pride in shaping confident, compassionate leaders.

The Summit’s goals focused on empowering students to:

  • Understand and model inclusive leadership in a diverse and evolving world.
  • Build communication and dialogue skills that strengthen the community.
  • Explore new ideas to foster inclusiveness within their school environments.
  • Exhibit self-awareness, confidence, and cultural pride.
  • Develop critical thinking skills to help them identify and address important issues in their communities.
  • Learn how to amplify their voices and ideas to create positive change.

By the end of the day, MBS Middle School students left energized and inspired—ready to bring new ideas, perspectives, and leadership strategies back to their School community, and to continue ensuring that every voice truly matters and every story connects.
