Congratulations to MBS seniors Charlotte Sussman ’25, Nicholas Troiano ’25, and Arden Upadya ‘25, who have been named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
They are among 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2025 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, they placed among the top five percent of more than 1.3 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said a spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Program. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.”
Earlier in the fall, MBS senior Kevin Chen ’25 was named a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. Kevin and the other semifinalists now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 Merit Scholarship Awards worth nearly $30 million that will be awarded in the spring.
