Programa Asesor
Los asesores de Morristown Beard School son responsables de supervisar el progreso académico, social y personal de sus asesorados, así como de servir de enlace entre la Escuela y el hogar.
Aunque los asesores no son orientadores titulados, pueden servir de caja de resonancia para los alumnos que se enfrentan a diversos problemas. Las cuestiones demasiado personales o complejas para que las trate el asesor se remiten a un orientador. Los asesores también colaboran estrechamente con los decanos de grado para determinar la naturaleza de un determinado problema y la mejor manera de abordarlo.
Advisors support their advisees by:
- monitoring and advising course selections and schedule
- serving as an advocate in school matters
- showing an interest in extracurricular and athletic commitments
- communicating with teachers and parents/guardians when needed
- facilitating advisory discussions and activities
- serving as the first point of when issues arise
Advisors are available to receive phone calls/emails from parents/guardians, gather information, and exchange information that is helpful to students and parents/guardians.
Escuela Superior
The Upper School schedule allows for students and advisors to meet each morning before the academic day begins. This is a valuable time for communication and observation. Advisors will be able to share important information about upcoming events, provide suggestions to improve academic success, and to listen to students’ needs or concerns. Having an awareness of the student’s social and emotional wellbeing is an important part of the advisory program as well. The Advisory Period on Mondays also provides time for goal setting activities, crisis drills, and grade themed discussions.
Secundaria
The Middle School schedule is designed to meet the needs of growing adolescent children. Our students begin and end their day in homeroom with their advisors. Our advisors are dedicated, grade specific, teachers committed to mentoring and supporting their advisees throughout their years at MBS. During Advisory period our students and advisors engage in relevant conversations aimed to address character formation and values.
El Periodo de Colaboración es un tiempo designado para trabajar con los profesores, colaborar con los compañeros y empezar los deberes.
La clase del final del día se dedica a organizar los materiales y prepararse para volver a casa. Cerramos la jornada escolar con deportes y actividades. Estamos comprometidos a ofrecer a nuestros estudiantes amplias oportunidades en el campo de juego y creemos que el buen espíritu deportivo es una parte integral del cultivo del carácter.
Padres y asesores
There are two formal meetings arranged in the fall and the spring for advisors to meet with parents, but parents may also call or e-mail advisors at any time.
